MacLean Colomb
MacLean Colomb is a senior at George Washington University, originally from Richmond, Virginia. During his time at George Washington University, he majored in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality studies. His capstone projects highlight issues that he’s been passionate about since he was a teenager, covering everything from the impacts of the Trump administration on the trans community, the effects of the 2025 government shutdown on SNAP programming, and how predatory landlords and government structures leave tenants at high risk for climate-related health issues. When he’s not out reporting or in the library, he likes to unwind by playing his guitar and writing poetry.
emma curry
Emma Curry is a senior at the George Washington University, majoring in journalism and mass communication with a minor in marketing. Originally from Chicago, Emma loves visiting the Bean and exploring the endless possibilities of every city she resides in. Through internships as a digital content creator and communications intern, she has learned the importance of what it means to be informed, and how to work under pressure. Emma is a leader on the Division I women’s lacrosse team, where she is continually challenged and taught about teamwork, commitment, and responsibility. Outside of lacrosse, Emma enjoys volunteering in the community, spending time with friends and family, as well as learning more about the world.
Jennifer igbonoba
Jennifer Igbonoba is a senior at The George Washington University, double majoring in economics and journalism. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Jennifer is a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Whataburger. She began her journalism career in high school, shadowing her local paper, The Dallas Morning News, before arriving in D.C. Throughtout her college career, Jennifer worked as an editor of the college newspaper, The GW Hatchet, and interned at outlets like NBC News and Education Week. In her free time, Jennifer can be found enjoying the hidden food gems throughout D.C.
rory quealy
Rory Quealy is a senior from La Grange, Illinois, graduating from George Washington University in December 2025. She is majoring in journalism and mass communication and minoring in political science. During her time at GW, Rory served as a news editor and managing director for the university’s independent, student newspaper, The Hatchet. She has also worked for national news outlets including The Hill and NewsNation. Her capstone projects have examined the impact of President Donald Trump’s D.C. takeover on the homeless population, the effects of forthcoming Medicaid cuts on those who rely on the program and the efforts of Prince George’s County residents to stop an AI data center from being built in their neighborhood.
Kristi is a senior from Jakarta, Indonesia, majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in Creative Writing. She has been an active sports reporter at GW Hatchet, a member and served two years as the Director of Media & Design of the GW Catholics, the GW Women’s Club Basketball and the Co-Head Director of Events of the Southeast Asia Student Network organization throughout her time at GWU. Her capstone project focuses on Catholics’ views on abortion, the impact of the new policy of H-1B visa on faculty and students and Surfrider DC on the Trump administration harming the ocean ecosystems. In her free time, she likes to listen to music, watch Netflix and hang out with friends.
laurin still
Laurin Still is a senior, graduating in the Fall of 2025, majoring in Journalism and Mass Communications with a minor in marketing. Originally from Boiling Springs, PA, Laurin plans to to stay in the DMV to pursue a career in culture and entertainment journalism while working part-time as a D.C. historic tour guide. In addition to her journalistic activity, she is an executive board member in Epsilon Sigma Alpha - Delta Zeta Chapter, a community service sorority at GW, where she volunteers across the DMV area to fulfill her passion for helping others. Her capstone projects center around systematic inequality in the justice system, birth control access, and the importance of "no-kill" animal shelters. In her free time, Laurin can be found searching for classic vinyls, watching a movie, or buying a latte at a local D.C. coffee spot.
brianna kimmel
Brianna, a double major in journalism and environmental studies, is an imminent graduate of the George Washington University. She is passionate about digital media, both visual and written. She focuses on journalistic writing, but also enjoys photography. Through her time with GW-TV’s sketch comedy show, “District Debrief,” Brianna has had the opportunity to serve as Social Media Manager, making content for the show’s Instagram and TikTok accounts.
She is also highly invested in the consequences of uncontrollable climate change, and is dedicated to using her journalistic abilities to approach the problem of climate change from a novel angle. As a life-long dancer, Brianna enjoys performance studies and feels particularly compelled towards movement as a method of communication. She sees herself as a storyteller, and a conduit through which unheard voices can be amplified.

Salmoncain is a senior majoring in journalism & mass communication at George Washington University, seeking to make a positive difference in the world. On campus, Salmoncain serves as chapter president of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. (Gamma Alpha Phi Chapter), an undergraduate member of the GW Campus Safety Advisory Committee, Public Relations Chair of the GW National Pan-Hellenic Council, a member of the GW Williams House, and a member of the Dean's Student Cabinet.
Salmoncain believes in the power of multiple perspectives in telling excellent stories about overlooked issues. Presently, he enjoys covering a variety of student issues that go under the radar. When he’s not running to complete an assignment or helping a friend, Salmoncain enjoys photography, biking, and exploring new places with friends.
